Wheat Grass Juice & Living Foods

Truly inspiring is Eydie Mae’s book on healing breast cancer. Eydie decided to decline surgery, chemo and radiation. Instead she turned her life over to wheatgrass juice and living foods. She even built a greenhouse to grow her own vegetables!

Eydie Mae describes how the cancerous lump in her breast slowly shrank then disappeared. In her Questions & Answers at the end of How I Conquered Cancer Naturally (#ad) , we read:

Question: “Is the wheatgrass juice the main key to getting rid of the cancer?”

Answer: “Yes, it is a must, but I believe the live foods has to go with it to maintain health.”

Dr. Ann Wigmore writes in Our Precious Pets (#ad):

Of course, processing raw foods in your kitchen is good, it makes the food easier to digest. We use juicing, blending, fermenting, and dehydrating.

In Eydie Mae’s Natural Recipes (#ad) Eydie Mae Hunsberger reports:

“It is unwise to cheat where cancer or any of the major debilitating diseases are concerned because these diseases are unforgiving of even the smallest infractions of the Phase I diet.”

By Phase 1 diet, Eydie Mae means 100% raw foods. But a fatty raw pizza does not count! She’s saying, if you have cancer or heart disease, reach only for fresh fruits, leafy greens, sprouts and raw vegetables. And wheatgrass juice!

Don’t cheat, she advises. Your disease is like alcoholism. It’s unforgiving when you cheat. Not to worry, it’s only until you’re healed, then a little cooked vegan food is fine, say 15% of your diet.

In my experience, living foods are the key to incredible health and energy 🙂

Wheatgrass Therapy for Cancer

Dr. Ann Wigmore confirms in her book, Naturama Living Textbook (#ad):

“The most effective therapy which we have discovered for cancer at the Institute consists of wheatgrass chlorophyll cocktails and live foods which are taken in an atmosphere of happiness and thankfulness.”

“During wheatgrass therapy, the [cancerous] growths are brought, piece-meal, into the bloodstream and are removed by the eliminative organs. The type of nourishment we get from indoor gardens will keep our bloodstream and the cells well nourished, enabling the circulatory system to carry away the poisons.”

“Every incurable health problem such as arthritis … diabetes … should be handled in the same manner. By cleansing the blood stream and taking care of deficiencies, the body will be able to heal the problem.”

“Every person can help themselves and frankly it is only through their own efforts, through the efforts their bodies make, that healing takes place and health and youth return.”

“My work with cancer patients has proved beyond a shadow of doubt that the colon is the most important of the eliminating organs. … Enemas and implants of wheatgrass chlorophyll [that’s wheatgrass juice] are essential for victims of cancer to cleanse the colon.”

Thus Ann Wigmore used wheatgrass juice both as a cocktail to drink, and as an implant in the colon after an enema.

By cocktail she simply means mixed with other juices to improve taste, such as cucumber, apple, other leafy greens. I like to add a little ginger, say one-inch piece.

How Much Wheatgrass Juice?

In Be Your Own Doctor (#ad) Dr. Ann recommended that when you wake, drink 2 glasses of warm water with the juice of one lemon. Then take an enema to thoroughly evacuate your colon.

Three times during the day at well-spaced intervals, you sip 4 ounces of fresh wheatgrass juice, so that’s 1 to 2 ounces each time. You can dilute it with as much pure water as you want.

Later in The Wheatgrass Book (#ad) Dr. Ann writes:

The right way to use wheatgrass juice is in small amounts throughout the day, always on an empty or nearly empty stomach … On a healing regime, I suggest that you drink one or two ounces up to three or four times a day.

If you drink more than 6 ounces of wheatgrass juice a day, you’ll probably get the runs! Drink at least 2 quarts (liters) of warm water a day.

“Curious to know why wheatgrass juice had been so powerful in healing Eydie Mae Hunsberger of breast cancer, her doctor discovered that wheatgrass contained a plant hormone called abscisic acid. He found, doing tests on laboratory animals, that even small amounts of abscisic acid proved to be deadly to any form of cancer.”

What to Eat with Wheat Grass Juice

Always drink your wheatgrass juice at least half an hour before you eat. Dr. Ann says you can have small meals of leafy greens, sprouts and vegetable fruits, or sweet fruits.

Vegetable fruits are those with seeds, such as red and yellow sweet peppers, cucumber, tomato, and summer squash (also called zucchini, courgette, baby marrow). Most green peppers are unripe red or yellow pepper, so I avoid them.

This was before Dr. Ann invented Energy Soup in the late 1980’s. Today she’d say drink Green Smoothies, rather than eat salads! Try to give your digestive system as much rest as possible.

If you feel the need for extra fat, then drink seed milks. But not too many while you’re healing — ideally not more than 3 a week. The protein in seeds is tougher to digest than the protein in leafy greens. Too much protein feeds cancer.

Dr. Ann advised to avoid sprouted grain crackers with seed cheese, if you have cancer. It’s a concentrated starch (grain) with concentrated protein (seed cheese).

Go Vegan

Critical to Ann Wigmore’s program for healing cancer is to go 100% vegan. Leave out anything that comes from a face! — fish, bird, animal, eggs, cheese…

Don’t eat any raw milk or cheese from an animal, and no raw meat. All cooked foods are taboo. Fresh fruits and vegetables are the true human diet, just as grass or green leaves are the natural diet for so many animals.

Dr. Ann taught this forty years BEFORE the science came out in 100% support. Today we have scientific research such as The China Study (#ad) by Dr. T. Colin Campbell and Power Plants (#ad) by Drs. Kim O’Neill & Byron Murray.

Lab researchers Drs O’Neill & Murray write in Power Plants (#ad):

“In our combined 53 years in biological research (much of it focused on studying cancer), it has become obvious that the answer to many of the human diseases has been staring us in the face for thousands of years — a diet based on fruits and vegetables.

…It is quite clear that the war against cancer will not be won only by molecular biology techniques in the near future.

…Eating a healthy diet of fruits and vegetables is the single greatest thing you can do to prevent disease and increase the quality of your life.

…Vegetarians have the lowest rates of chronic disease and the highest life expectancy of any population.”

In other words, after 53 years of research, the lab guys admit they will never find the answer to cancer in the foreseeable future. The only answer they’ve found to date is fresh fruits & vegetables!

The China Study

When Dr. T. Colin Campbell was professor of Biomedical Science and Nutrition at Cornell University, he found he could promote cancer in rats 100% of the time by giving them casein, the protein in milk.

Then he discovered that plant proteins have the opposite effect, they shrink tumors. My note: the best source of plant protein is leafy greens. Have you seen how muscular the buffalo are? They can even fight their way out of the jaws of a crocodile. All they eat is grass!

So there you have it. Milk Protein = Cancer Grows. Plant Protein = Cancer Shrinks. It’s that simple. Dr. Campbell reports his experiments in the DVD, Healing Cancer From Inside Out (#ad).

This is true for organic dairy too. All milk has casein. Scary stuff, eh? That’s when I decided it’s time to go easy on the cheese.

Wanting to test humans, not just rats, Dr. Campbell then went on to direct the China Project, a “survey of death rates for twelve different kinds of cancer for more than 2,400 counties in China and 880 million (96%) of their citizens” — conducted jointly by Cornell University, Oxford University, and the Chinese Academy of Preventive Medicine over the course of twenty years.

The Project results? “Even Small Amounts of Animal Products in the Diet Produce Significant Increases in Disease” (quoted in Vegan – The New Ethics of Eating (#ad) by Erik Marcus, 2000).

Dr. Campbell writes in his book The China Study (#ad) (read it in google books, page 107):

“The strength and consistency of the majority of the evidence is enough to draw valid conclusions. Namely, whole plant-based foods are beneficial, and animal-based foods are not.

Few other dietary choices, if any, can offer the incredible benefits of looking good, growing tall and avoiding the vast majority of premature diseases.

The results of this study, in addition to a mountain of supporting research… convinced me to turn my dietary lifestyle around. I stopped eating meat fifteen years ago, and I stopped eating almost all animal-based foods, including dairy, within the past six to eight years… My family has also adopted this way of eating.”
